Covenant House Vancouver is committed to being a trauma-informed agency. The staff and board of Covenant House Vancouver hold an awareness that the youth who come to us may have been impacted by a single incident, by intergenerational or complex trauma, and/or by complex stress. We believe that trauma can be both a cause and a product of homelessness.

Trauma is not something that you shrink. The goal of counselling… is to build your life around that trauma. So your life becomes bigger and your trauma feels smaller.
Jordana, Clinical Counsellor, Covenant House Vancouver
It’s easy to accept the tangible help that Covenant House provides — a roof over your head, food, and clothes to wear. But I feel what changed my life was the support, the unconditional love, and the non-judgmental environment.
Reem, Alumna, Covenant House Vancouver
I think there’s this myth that if a youth ends up homeless, it’s because they have nothing. But it’s not that they don’t have strengths or resources that they draw on, in spite of their homelessness.
Kadee, Lead Spiritual Care Practitioner, Covenant House Vancouver
Having worked in the health and social services field for the majority of my career, I can resolutely say that the connection between housing and a person’s health is incredibly strong: you simply cannot have good health without a home.
