As we continue to celebrate National Volunteer Week, we are so inspired by the amazing volunteers who make up the backbone of CHV. Volunteers make it possible for us to run our programs and services and inspire us and the work we do, every day. Today, we want to recognize our Food Services volunteers.
Jennifer Ramsay, who has been volunteering since 2014, signed up as a Food Services volunteer because “I wanted to give back to the community, so I looked for an opportunity that involved working in kitchens and with food. I decided to go with a youth-at-risk shelter, as helping young people during a tough time is important and hopefully helps guide them down a path to success.”
Our Food Services team serves all three Covenant House Vancouver buildings, 365 days a year, three meals a day. In 2024, they served over 140,000 meals to youth. Food Services volunteers assist the team with food preparation and general kitchen operations, like washing dishes and serving meals.
Food Services volunteer, Claudine Maile, shared, “My experiences here with the incredible staff, and other volunteers, at CHV has certainly made this work the highlight of my week. […] They have shown me how passionate they are about their work, by creating such amazing meals every day. They are a true inspiration to me.”
We are so happy to share wonderful moments from our volunteer community that has grown and made such an incredible impact, at CHV. Thank you all for your dedication and support.
