On November 16th, David Hawksworth is sleeping outside in an alley. Why? Because David is supporting CHV’s Sleep Out event that raises awareness about the plight of vulnerable youth who are either homeless or at risk of homelessness. This event also raises significant funds needed for CHV’s provision of 24/7 sanctuary and support to help these youth overcome challenges and build a brighter future full of hope and possibility.
If David’s name sounds familiar, that would be because David owns Hawksworth Restaurant, located in the Rosewood Hotel Georgia, in the heart of Vancouver.
To help raise funds for Sleep Out, David is hosting an extraordinary evening of culinary delights. David will be joined by talented BC chefs Stephanie Noël, Yuji Otsuka, and Adam Pegg. Each chef will showcase their skillful techniques and unique culinary styles, while highlighting pristine local ingredients.
“I am very much looking forward to cooking with three of our province’s top talents,” said Chef David Hawksworth, “we each have quite distinctive styles but share the same drive for excellence. This dinner will be a real treat for our guests and will inspire our team — at the same time we’ll be supporting our friends at Covenant House who do a really remarkable job in helping and protecting youth in our community that are faced with homelessness.”
About Sleep Out Executive Edition
Sleep Out Executive Edition is not about pretending to be homeless. Sleeping outside for one night in November is a choice to share the briefest moment of sacrifice and solidarity with those vulnerable youth who didn’t have a choice. Youth who have spent nights outside without a roof, and without the safety or support that they deserve. Leaders in the community Sleep Out for one night in an effort to provide many nights of safe and supported shelter for young people, and to cultivate a greater shared understanding of what vulnerable youth endure every night.
The Sleep Out experience includes opportunities for participants to learn from subject matter experts, hear inspiring stories from youth, and an opportunity for participants to share their Sleep Out experiences.
