Reverse Poem

The poem below is a reverse poem that was written by a Youth Worker. A reverse poem means something different when read from bottom to top. Be sure to read in both directions for full impact.

I am a failure.
And I refuse to believe that
I have potential
I realize this may be a shock, but
I am important
Is a lie.
There are no happy endings
In 30 years, I will tell my family that
I have my priorities straight because
Drugs
Are more important than
Relationships
Experts tell me
I cannot be helped
I do not believe that
I’ll find a home
In the future
I’ll live on the streets
No longer can it be said that
Dreams come true
It will be evident that
I’ll end up alone
It is foolish to presume that
I am valued
And all of this will come true, unless we reverse it.

(Now, read it from bottom to top)
