Recently we celebrated Nowruz with the young people at Covenant House. Nowruz means “a new day” and it is a holiday marking the arrival of spring and the first day of the year in Iran, whose solar calendar begins with the vernal equinox.
To honour this holiday youth were treated to nan-e-berenji and nan-e-nokhodji which are delicious rice and chickpea flour cookies. Informational posters about Nowruz were posted so both youth and staff could learn more this spring holiday.
