Covenant House Vancouver extends our sincere condolences to the community of the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation and Indigenous communities across Canada. We join them in mourning the 215 children whose lives were lost in Kamloops and all lives lost to residential schools.
We acknowledge the deep-rooted grief, trauma and loss that has been caused by Canada’s residential schools and other colonial systems and policies. We encourage all non-Indigenous residents to join us as we pause, reflect, and undertake the significant work needed to bring about change.
