When we think of people who are experiencing homelessness and weather, we generally worry about it being too cold, not too hot.
But summer weather and extreme heat can have a negative impact on those experiencing homelessness as well. Those who are homeless can lack places to get fresh water and areas to stay cool.
At Covenant House Vancouver, we prepare for the heat and make sure that youth who are living outside have proper supplies. We provide water bottles and water, sunscreen, cool clothing and remind them to take it easy and seek shade when it is hot.
If you want to help youth experiencing homelessness this summer here are a few new items we need:
- Sunscreen and refillable mini bottles
- Aloe Vera
- Baseball Caps
- Men’s bathing suits and shorts in sizes 30-34
- Men’s t-shirts in size medium and large
- Men’s flip flops in size 11 and higher
- Ankle socks for men and women
- Men’s boxers all sizes
- Fans
Due to COVID-19 and our enhanced cleaning procedures you must schedule a drop off time and all items must be new, please contact Cory at ckaban@covenanthousebc.org or 604-757-6064.
If you have used items to donate Wildlife Thrift Store is accepting (one block from our Seymour location) and supports us and many other local non-profits.
