Recently a young woman, Betty, who had previously stayed with us returned to stay at our
Crisis Program. Staff and all the youth who were interested went to the
Burnaby Heritage Museum to enjoy some Christmas spirit and ride the carousel. After a bit of encouragement from staff Betty agreed to go with staff on the outing. But said she was a bit of a Grinch around Christmas as she had spent the last few Christmas’s on the street.
After walking around and seeing all the Christmas lights, a partridge in a pear tree, nine ladies dancing, eating some mini donuts, drinking hot cocoa and riding the carousel, everybody was in a cheerful Christmassy mood.
Self-proclaimed Grinch Betty was even heard saying, this is the best Christmas ever, and it’s not even Christmas yet.
